In the early months of 2016, the beloved Scottish Highland Games come to a stop throughout the majority of the world. This is due to the fact that these games are loved mainly throughout Ireland, Scotland, Britain & surrounding areas. During this time of year, it’s their winter season, competing in these games would not only be illogical but it would also be incredibly dangerous. All fans must wait until the later spring months or summer to enjoy these festivities once again.
Fans of these games were lucky during 2015. During the first two months of the season for 2015 (March/April) the attendance for these games was at an all time low. This was shocking to say the least as Ireland, Scotland, Britain & surrounding areas experienced odd but beautiful weather throughout the Spring. This lead many sports analysts to believe that these games, after their decades of popularity were finally beginning to die down. Luckily though throughout May, June, July, August & September attendance numbers only continued to rise. By the end of September, not only was attendance back to normal but it had increased by 5% from the previous year.
So many choose to down the Highland Games during 2015, the fans didn’t let these games die though and because of this fans will be able to enjoy yet another season during 2016. Regardless of what happens in the future, the Highland Games will always be immersed into our culture. It’s known and loved by millions of millions of people around the globe.
